The Nanoscience and Microsystems (NSMS) REU program accepts applications from undergraduate students in their sophomore and junior years majoring in chemical engineering, chemistry, materials science, ceramics, biomedical engineering, physics and mechanical engineering. Students at 2-year and community colleges are also eligible if they have been admitted to a degree status institution in the majors listed above. Students MUST be citizens or permanent residents of the United States.

The 2018 NSMS REU program begins May 29th and ends August 3rd, 2018. Applications are currently being accepted.Please apply on or before March 5th, 2018. Students will receive a stipend of $5,000 and a travel allowance up to $600. The program also provides apartment-style housing at UNM, as well as many fun activities for the students.

Students will be responsible for their food and household items. Housing is provided at UNM's Student Resident Center. Internet access from your dorm room is provided. Students will work in one of the project areas working with UNM faculty and national laboratory scientists. Field trips to local industry and national laboratories will be part of the summer program, as well as social & cultural activities.
